New Delhi, February 6, 2026 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned the spotlight on gaming as a viable and creative skill during the ninth edition of his interactive student program, Pariksha Pe Charcha, held here on Friday.
Addressing a gathering of students, teachers, and parents, Modi encouraged young minds to tap into India’s rich cultural heritage for game development. “Our country has a vast treasure of stories and folklore,” he said, suggesting classics like the Panchatantra as potential inspirations for innovative games.
The PM shared an relatable anecdote about parental reactions to children’s pursuits: “Parents often scold at first, but kids persist quietly. When success comes, they boast about it to the whole neighborhood, turning it into family pride and eventually offering full support.”
He advised aspiring creators to start small—build a social media profile, develop one or two games independently, and launch them to gain traction. “When families see thousands playing and following your work, they’ll appreciate it and even pitch in ideas,” Modi added.
Highlighting gaming’s positives, the Prime Minister noted that interest in it should never cause hesitation. With affordable time, computing power, and internet in India, plus accessible modern tech, it’s an ideal field for skill-building. “Gaming demands speed, focus, and alertness—qualities that sharpen the mind for overall growth,” he emphasized, urging students to seek high-quality games and hone expertise.
However, Modi issued a stern warning against gambling: “Investing money in it leads to serious harm. Stick to skill-based gaming, not chance.”
The event, organized by the Ministry of Education, aimed to ease exam stress while fostering holistic development, with gaming emerging as a fresh theme for career exploration.
