Siliguri, February 15, 2026 – Commuters in North Bengal will soon benefit from new stoppages approved for several key trains at local stations, with formal flagging-off ceremonies scheduled for February 16 and 17, 2026.
Darjeeling MP Raju Bista announced the developments, extending invitations to the public to join him and local MLAs for the events. These stoppages, first revealed by Bista on January 10 and January 16, have now been sanctioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The new halts include:
February 16:
- Train 15484 Mahananda Express at Sevoke (03:35 PM)
- Train 15778 Tourist Express at Gulma (06:15 PM)
February 17:
- Train 15483 Mahananda Express at Naxalbari (03:38 PM)
- Train 15464 Balurghat-Siliguri Intercity Express at Adhikari (06:05 PM)
- Train 75764 Radhikapur-Siliguri DEMU Express at Adhikari (10:00 PM)
- Train 75705 Radhikapur-Siliguri DEMU Express at Batasi (10:03 PM)
Bista thanked the Prime Minister and Railway Minister for approving these long-pending demands, stating the stoppages will significantly improve convenience for daily commuters, residents, and tourists across the Siliguri corridor, Terai, and Dooars.
The ceremonies mark a major step in enhancing rail connectivity in the strategically important region, easing travel and supporting local economies.
