West Asia Crisis: Indian Envoy in Saudi Arabia Assures Nationals of 24/7 Assistance
Riyadh, March 8, 2026 — As the security situation across West Asia remains highly volatile following the recent joint U.S.-Israel military strikes on Iran, the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia has stepped up its outreach to ensure the safety of the Indian diaspora.
On Sunday, India’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Suhel Ajaz Khan, held a comprehensive virtual interaction with representatives of the Indian community residing in the Kingdom to reassure them of the government’s unwavering support.
Proactive Embassy Outreach
During the virtual meeting, Ambassador Khan was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Mission, Abu Mathen George, and the Counsellor for Community Welfare, Y. Sabir.
According to an official statement posted by ‘India in Saudi Arabia‘ on X (formerly Twitter), the Ambassador reassured the community leaders of the Embassy’s complete readiness to extend all necessary assistance to any Indian national in need during the ongoing regional crisis.
The diplomatic team briefed the participants on several emergency initiatives recently activated by the Embassy. Chief among these measures is the establishment of a dedicated 24/7 control room in Riyadh, designed to provide prompt logistical support, safety guidance, and emergency response for the diaspora.
Community Response and Safety Protocols
Following the briefing, the community representatives expressed their deep appreciation for the Embassy’s proactive engagement and timely communication during a period of widespread anxiety regarding airspace closures and regional stability.
The Embassy has consistently urged all Indian nationals across Saudi Arabia to remain vigilant, strictly adhere to safety guidelines issued by local Saudi authorities, and avoid unnecessary travel.
With nearly three million Indians living and working in Saudi Arabia, the well-being of the diaspora remains a critical priority for New Delhi as the Ministry of External Affairs continues to closely monitor the escalating conflict across the Gulf.
