Why is Heeseung Leaving?
According to the official statement released by BELIFT LAB on Tuesday, the departure stems from mutual agreements regarding Heeseung’s individual artistic direction.

Shortly after the official notice, the 24-year-old artist took to the fan community platform Weverse to share a deeply emotional, handwritten letter with the fandom, known as ENGENE.
“The six years I’ve spent have been filled with moments so overwhelming and precious that it’s hard to fully put them into words,” Heeseung wrote. He expressed profound gratitude to his bandmates and fans, acknowledging the suddenness of the news. Addressing his solo ambitions, he explained, “I had a lot of things I wanted to show you, but I also didn’t want to put my greed ahead of the team… I made a big decision to leave to reach out to you in a better way.”
Fans Draw Parallels to One Direction
The announcement completely blindsided fans, especially since ENHYPEN had just released their seventh mini-album, THE SIN: VANISH, in January 2026 and recently secured the Artist of the Year grand prize at the 2026 D Awards.
Across social media, heartbroken fans immediately began drawing eerie parallels to Zayn Malik’s sudden departure from One Direction, which coincidentally also occurred in March, exactly eleven years ago in 2015.
