Highway Terror: 20 Bike-Borne Hooligans Chase and Smash Car on Delhi-Dehradun Expressway

Meerut, March 19, 2026 — In a shocking display of lawlessness on one of North India’s busiest routes, a massive gang of roughly 20 bike-borne youths attacked a lone car driver on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway near Modipuram on Wednesday.

The terrifying incident, which caused momentary panic and halted traffic on the highway, was partially captured on video and is now going viral across social media platforms.

A Highway Nightmare Caught on Camera

According to the viral footage and local reports, the ordeal began when a large group of masked youths riding motorcycles—predominantly Royal Enfield Bullets—started aggressively chasing a car.

In the chilling video, the desperate car driver can be heard speaking to an acquaintance on his mobile phone, stating that around 20 boys on bikes were pursuing him and attempting to intercept his vehicle. The footage clearly shows the bikers repeatedly overtaking the car in an attempt to force it to stop.

The Vicious Assault

The chase eventually culminated in a violent ambush. The armed youths, wielding thick wooden sticks (lathis), surrounded the vehicle right in the middle of the highway.

  • Vandalism: The attackers brutally smashed the car’s windows and heavily damaged the vehicle’s bodywork.

  • Assault: The driver was physically assaulted and subjected to severe verbal abuse by the mob.

  • Public Panic: The brazen daylight attack, complete with weapons and a massive mob, created an atmosphere of absolute terror among other commuters and passersby on the Delhi-Doon Highway.

Police Action and Investigation

Following the incident, local residents have expressed intense outrage over the rising ‘hooliganism’ and lack of fear of the law in the region, demanding immediate and strict police intervention.

Responding to the viral video, Circle Officer (CO) of Daurala, Prakash Chandra Agarwal, confirmed that local police immediately reached the spot upon receiving the information and have launched a probe.

“We are thoroughly investigating the viral video to identify the attackers,” CO Agarwal stated. He noted that, as of now, the victim has not filed a formal written complaint (tahrir) with the police. However, he assured the public that the moment a formal complaint is registered, strict legal action will be taken against every accused individual involved in the violent mob.
