4 Active Insurgents Arrested Near Myanmar Border in Manipur’s Moreh
Moreh, April 4, 2026 — In a significant breakthrough against insurgency in the region, security forces in Manipur have successfully apprehended four active cadres belonging to various Valley-Based Insurgent Groups (VBIGs). The arrests were made during a targeted operation in the Tengnoupal district near the porous border town of Moreh.
According to an official statement released by the Manipur Police on social media, the joint security operation took place on Thursday, April 2. Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of armed militants, forces cordoned off Yangoubung village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Moreh Police Station, leading to the capture of the four individuals without any reported casualties.
Profiles of the Arrested Insurgents
The arrested militants belong to different banned outfits operating within the state, including the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the National Revolutionary Frontiers Manipur (NRFM), and the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-MFL).
The Manipur Police identified the apprehended individuals as follows:
Keisham Sumanta Meitei (25): An active cadre of the PLA, hailing from Toubungkhok Awang Leikai in the Imphal West district.
Angom Somorjit Singh, alias Nongsaba (32): A member of the NRFM, resident of Kakching Khunou Awang Kshetri Leikai in the Kakching district.
Yumnam Naoba Singh, alias Shinsangamba (26): Affiliated with the KCP (MFL), hailing from Gwaltabi Mamang Leikai in the Imphal East district.
Khundrakpam Shyamson Meitei, alias Manganleiba (25): Also an active member of the KCP (MFL), resident of Ukhongshang Mamang Leikai in the Thoubal district.
On 02.04.2026, security forces arrested 04 (four) VBIGs from Yangoubung village under Moreh-PS, Tengnoupal district. They were identified as:

Ongoing Anti-Insurgency Operations
