Surat (Gujarat), April 26, 2026 — In a chilling crime that has shocked Surat, a man allegedly murdered his dietician wife and concealed her body inside a wooden box filled with cement at his former residence.

The victim has been identified as Dr. Shilpa Salvi. She lived with her husband of 15 years, Vishal Salvi, and their son in the Godadara area of the city.

The Crime and Cover-Up According to the police, the murder took place on April 20. Following the crime, Vishal allegedly transported Dr. Shilpa’s body to his old, unoccupied house in the Salabatpura area. In a gruesome attempt to hide the evidence and mask the smell, he stuffed her remains into a wooden box and poured liquid cement over it.

To throw off the authorities, Vishal even filed a fake missing person complaint for his wife at the Godadara police station on the very same day.

The Discovery The calculated cover-up unraveled when Vishal suddenly went missing, leaving behind a letter addressed to his son. Acting on the clues provided in the letter, the police searched the old Salabatpura house and made the grim discovery.

The Surat police have registered a case of murder and formed multiple teams to track down the absconding husband. Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact motive behind the killing and to verify if any accomplices helped him transport and conceal the body.
