Cooch Behar, West Bengal – In a resolution to a recent theft case, Pundibari Police Station has arrested a suspect and recovered stolen gold ornaments and jewellery valued at approximately ₹2,00,000 from his possession, demonstrating effective policing in the region.
The incident occurred on January 6, 2026, when valuables were stolen from a resident’s house in the Kharija Kakribari area under Pundibari Police Station. Following the victim’s complaint, a case was promptly registered, and an investigation was launched.
Acting on confidential information, officers from Pundibari PS conducted a raid on January 8, 2026, in the Andaran Fulbari area under Tufanganj Police Station. They apprehended one individual and seized the stolen items from him.
Images from the police station show the arrested suspect (face covered) flanked by officers, with the recovered jewellery—including necklaces, earrings, bangles, and other ornaments—displayed on a table.
This action has been praised by locals, highlighting the police’s commitment to tackling property crimes in Cooch Behar district.
The investigation is ongoing to determine if there are additional links or accomplices involved.
