Alipurduar, West Bengal – In a successful resolution to a theft complaint, police in Jaigaon have arrested Sanjay Dey, an employee accused of stealing cash and gold from New Laxmi Narayan Jewellers, and recovered the missing valuables.

The case dates back to November 26, 2025, when shop owner Joydeb Sutradhar filed a complaint at the local police station. According to the report, Dey had taken an advance of ₹43,390 on November 5, 2025, before going missing. Subsequent checks revealed that 23 grams of gold were also stolen from the premises.

Following a thorough investigation, authorities arrested the accused. During police remand, the full 23 grams of gold were recovered from his possession, marking a key breakthrough in the case.

Alipurduar District Police shared details of the operation on social media, emphasizing their commitment to swift justice in property crimes. This recovery highlights ongoing efforts to address theft and fraud in commercial areas of the district, particularly in border towns like Jaigaon.
