Massive Weapons Haul in Malda: Police Nab Two in Shocking Firearms Raid – 15 Guns Seized

Malda, West Bengal – In a significant crackdown on illegal arms trafficking, Malda District Police conducted raids at two separate locations on January 20, 2026, arresting two individuals and recovering a large cache of weapons.

Acting on credible intelligence, officers apprehended Mainul Hasan, 20, son of Saidul Rahaman from Mirjatpur, Loskarpur under Lalgola Police Station in Murshidabad district, and Md. Anarul Hoque, son of the late Rahamu Sk from Baliharpur, Sujapur under Kaliachak Police Station in Malda district.

During the operations, police seized 15 improvised firearms, 25 rounds of ammunition, and 8 magazines from the suspects’ possession. The raids underscore the force’s ongoing efforts to curb organized crime and maintain public safety in the region.

A case has been registered at the respective police stations under relevant sections of the Arms Act. Both accused have been taken into police custody for interrogation, with investigations continuing to uncover potential links to broader networks.

Malda District Police reiterated their commitment to a “crime-free and safe district,” maintaining zero tolerance for such activities. Local residents have welcomed the action, expressing hope that it will deter illegal arms dealings in the area.
