Siliguri, West Bengal – Acclaimed Nepali folk-rock singer Bipul Chettri launched his latest single, “Lopchu ko Orali,” yesterday, January 30, 2026, capturing the quiet beauty of a small village in the Darjeeling hills through heartfelt lyrics and soothing melodies.
The song, now streaming on all major platforms, draws inspiration from Lopchu—a spot famous for its tea gardens and as a peaceful rest point amid misty mornings, deep green slopes, and the melancholic calm of mountain landscapes. Chettri shared a reflective note on Facebook alongside a video clip: “Lopchu, apart from its famous tea gardens is familiar to us as a spot to stop and relax for a bit in the Darjeeling hills amongst mist, slow mornings, deep green slopes, and that calm, slightly melancholic beauty you only get in mountain places. It carries a sense of stillness and depth, like something that doesn’t rush to explain itself. It belongs to memory.”
The YouTube music video, directed by Gundruk and shot by Pemba Tshering Tamang and Akash Pradhan, features scenic visuals of Lopchu, including drone footage by Abhishek Painkra. It showcases local appearances by Sujit Subba, Palzer Lama, Passang Lamu Sherpa, Pratibha Subba, Aryan Rai, Jorden Sherpa, and Nehal Pradhan, adding an authentic touch to the narrative.
Musically, Chettri handles vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, and backing vocals, with contributions from Rahul Rai on bass, Shantanu Sudarshan on drums and percussion, Prince Nepali on sarangi, tungna, and madal, Anindo Bose on organ, and the Blue Notes School of Music Ensemble for backing vocals. The track was recorded by Jonty Indra, Anindo Bose, and Binaya Man Amatya, with mixing and mastering by Amatya. Chettri composed, arranged, and produced the song, with Sonam Tashi as executive producer.
Chettri extended special thanks to The Mukhian Homestay in Lopchu, owners Anmol Mukhia and Aaku Pema Dukpa, and the local community for their support during filming. The trip was managed by Trail Begins.
Known for blending Himalayan folk elements with contemporary sounds, Chettri—hailing from Kalimpong—has built a loyal following with albums like “Sketches of Darjeeling” and hits such as “Syndicate” and “Asaar.” This single continues his tradition of evoking regional nostalgia and cultural depth.
This launch adds to the vibrant music scene in North Bengal, where folk traditions inspire modern expressions. More updates on Chettri’s work are expected soon.
