Aamir Khan, Arijit Singh Face Backlash Over Alleged Unauthorized Late-Night Entry into Government College in Jiaganj

Murshidabad, February 8, 2026 – Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and acclaimed singer Arijit Singh have landed in hot water following allegations of entering a government college campus in West Bengal without prior permission late at night. The incident, which has sparked widespread debate on social media, reportedly occurred at Rani Dhanya Kumari Government College in Jiaganj, Murshidabad district, on the night of February 4.

According to claims made by the college principal, Ajoy Adhikari, in a now-deleted Facebook post, the duo—accompanied by around 20 others—arrived on motorcycles around 1:05 a.m. and stayed for over an hour. Adhikari alleged they played badminton in the indoor games hall, conducted a shoot, and exited around 2:25 a.m., all without informing or seeking approval from college authorities. He further claimed the group “pressured” the temporary night guard over the phone to open the gates and that he was “forced” to delete videos he had shared of the visit.

In his post, Adhikari questioned the entitlement of celebrities: “Just because they are famous, can they do whatever they want? Are government educational institutions to be treated with such disregard?” The principal shared CCTV footage, which went viral before being removed, showing individuals entering the premises. However, the authenticity of the videos has not been independently verified, and no formal police complaint has been filed as of now.

The controversy unfolds against the backdrop of Arijit Singh’s recent bombshell announcement on January 27, 2026, where he revealed he would no longer accept new playback singing assignments in Bollywood. The 38-year-old singer, often hailed as the “voice of a generation,” cited creative burnout, a desire for personal growth, and a shift toward independent music, live performances, and reconnecting with Indian classical roots. In follow-up posts on his personal X account, Arijit clarified the decision was the result of long reflection, dismissing rumors of a “toxic” studio culture or impulsive choices.

Aamir Khan, a longtime collaborator with Arijit on films like Dangal and Secret Superstar, visited the singer at his Jiaganj home shortly after the announcement, reportedly for a pending shoot or to offer support. The college is located near Arijit’s residence, fueling speculation that the late-night visit was linked to this meeting—possibly for recreational or filming purposes.

Industry peers have rallied around Arijit, with rapper Hanumankind emphasizing respect for his choice amid life’s stresses, composer Vishal Dadlani advocating for personal fulfillment, and singer Armaan Malik dismissing toxicity rumors as unfounded. Actor Pankaj Tripathi also defended the move, citing artist burnout in the relentless showbiz grind. Fans can still expect Arijit’s voice in upcoming 2026 releases like Border 2 and O Romeo as he fulfills prior commitments.

Neither Aamir Khan nor Arijit Singh has publicly responded to the allegations. The incident has ignited discussions on celebrity privileges, protocol at public institutions, and the use of government premises for commercial activities. Local authorities are yet to comment, but the viral footage has amplified calls for accountability.
