Horrific Attack in Andhra Pradesh Husband Slits Wife’s Throat After Feigning Leg Pain
Tanuku / Tarai 24 National Desk, March 15, 2026 — A chilling incident of domestic violence and attempted murder has surfaced from Tanuku in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, where a man allegedly slit his wife’s throat out of suspicion before fleeing the scene.
The victim, who sustained severe injuries in the brutal attack, was rescued by alert locals and rushed to a nearby hospital where she is currently fighting for her life.
A Tragic Background of Suspicion and Hardship
According to local authorities, the couple, identified as Karagani Govind and Karagani Dileshwari, entered into a love marriage approximately 13 years ago despite strong opposition from their families. Govind, originally from Cheepurupalli, relocated to Tanuku with his wife after the wedding.
However, marital harmony was short-lived. Relatives stated that Govind harbored deep suspicions about Dileshwari and frequently subjected her to severe physical and mental harassment. Despite the family’s dire financial situation—compounded by the tragic illness and death of their younger son—Dileshwari took up a job at a local dry fruit shop to support the household.
Even after Govind recently broke his leg in a severe road accident, Dileshwari continued to serve and care for him while managing the family’s finances.
The Premeditated Attack
Pushed to her limits by the continuous harassment, Dileshwari recently filed a formal complaint with the local police against her husband. This police intervention allegedly enraged Govind further, prompting him to plot a violent revenge.
On the day of the attack, Govind feigned severe leg pain, claiming he was completely unable to walk. Believing him, Dileshwari placed him on a pushcart (thela) to transport him safely back home. In a shocking act of betrayal while en route, Govind suddenly pulled out a concealed knife and violently slit his wife’s throat.
Manhunt Underway
Immediately after the attack, Govind abandoned the pushcart, jumped onto a motorcycle, and fled the scene, leaving his wife bleeding heavily on the road.
Passersby who witnessed the horrific aftermath immediately intervened, rushing the critically injured woman to the Tanuku Government Hospital where emergency medical treatment is ongoing. Local police have registered a case of attempted murder and launched a massive manhunt to apprehend the absconding husband.
