New Delhi, February 12, 2026 – A viral video claiming stadium staff at Arun Jaitley Stadium are refilling Thums Up bottles with leftover soda from used cups has ignited widespread debate on social media, amid the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The footage, captured after the Netherlands vs Namibia match on February 10, shows workers collecting partially consumed drinks into a container and pouring them back into original bottles. The poster alleged a “scam,” warning that the refilled bottles could be sold at future games, calling it a health hazard due to potential contamination.

Social media reactions are sharply divided. Many users condemned the practice as “criminal negligence” and demanded action, with comments like “This is a serious health risk” and “Take strict action.” Others were skeptical, suggesting the staff might be taking leftovers home rather than reselling them, with comment like “I don’t think so. Those workers take it home probably.“ questioning the video’s intent.
The stadium, a key venue for the tournament co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, is scheduled for more matches, including Canada vs UAE on February 13.
As of now, neither the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) nor Coca-Cola India (Thums Up’s parent company) has issued an official response. The incident has raised fresh concerns over hygiene and vendor practices at major sporting events.
