BJP Promises Parja Patta Rights and 7th Pay Commission at Malbazar Parivartan Rally
Malbazar, March 8, 2026 — Stepping up its election campaign in North Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a massive ‘Parivartan Yatra’ Jan Sabha at Moulani Bazar in the Malbazar area of Jalpaiguri district on Sunday. The rally was spearheaded by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Darjeeling MP Raju Bista.
Earlier in the day, MP Raju Bista welcomed the Bihar Deputy CM at his residence in Siliguri before the leaders traveled to Malbazar to address BJP karyakartas (workers) and local residents.
Scathing Attack on the State Government
Addressing the massive gathering, Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary launched a sharp critique against the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government. Highlighting the central government’s welfare initiatives, Choudhary stated that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi ensured no citizen slept hungry during the COVID-19 pandemic, TMC leaders resorted to using unparliamentary language against the central leadership.
Echoing this aggressive stance, MP Raju Bista stated that the Parivartan Yatra is a movement aimed at shifting West Bengal away from what he termed the TMC’s culture of “corruption, violence, and tolabazi” (extortion). He assured the crowd that a BJP-led administration would restore strict law and order, ensuring transparent governance where state benefits reach the economically marginalized without the interference of middlemen.
Major Promises for Tea Garden Workers
A significant portion of the rally focused heavily on the region’s crucial tea industry demographic. Bista accused the current state government of actively discriminating against tea garden workers and outlined several concrete promises should the BJP come to power in the state:
Labour Reforms: Implementation of the New Labour Codes within six months of forming the government.
Land Rights: Ensuring Parja Patta (land title) rights for all tea garden residents.
Wages and Security: Guaranteeing higher daily wages and enhanced social security benefits for the workers and their families.
Border Security and Regional Development
Focusing on the broader security and economic landscape of the North Bengal region, the Darjeeling MP also pledged to drastically strengthen border security to curb illegal infiltration.
On the economic front, Bista highlighted the party’s commitment to promoting industrial growth and local entrepreneurship to generate employment opportunities for the youth. Furthermore, he promised transparent recruitment processes to fill all pending government vacancies and announced a firm commitment to implementing the much-delayed 7th Pay Commission for state employees within 45 days of assuming power
