Mentally Harassed’ by Wife: Unemployed Father Murders Two Toddlers, Leaves Video Before Suicide in Maharajganj

Maharajganj / Lucknow Desk, March 10, 2026 — A shocking triple tragedy has surfaced from the Nautanwa area of Maharajganj district, where an unemployed man allegedly murdered his two young children before ending his own life on Sunday night.

The deceased, identified as 35-year-old Amrish Thakur, lived in a rented accommodation with his family. According to police, Amrish served as a stay-at-home father, taking care of his 4-year-old daughter, Kanchan, and his 3-year-old son, Amarendra. His wife is currently employed as a sanitation worker and is posted with the 66th Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

Disturbing Video Recordings Recovered

The gruesome incident came to light after the discovery of the bodies inside their residence. During a preliminary search of the premises, investigators recovered crucial evidence, including a physical suicide note and two separate video recordings made by Amrish prior to taking his life.

In the recovered media, Amrish explicitly blamed his wife and several other individuals for subjecting him to severe mental harassment, which he claimed drove him to take the extreme step of killing his children and himself.

Police Register FIR Against Wife

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Siddharth confirmed the details of the case, stating that Amrish was unemployed and solely responsible for childcare while his wife was on duty.

Following the tragic discovery, Amrish’s brother approached the authorities to file a formal complaint. Acting on the complaint and the evidence found at the scene, the local police have officially registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Amrish’s wife, five other named individuals, and one unidentified person.

An extensive investigation is currently underway to verify the claims made in the suicide note and to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the murders.
