Iran Strikes Back? Drones Target US Embassy in Iraq and Ignite Fire at UAE’s Fujairah Port

Fujairah / Tarai 24 International Desk, March 15, 2026 — The rapidly escalating conflict in West Asia reached a dangerous new boiling point on Saturday, with coordinated drone attacks disrupting a vital oil hub in the United Arab Emirates and directly striking the United States Embassy in Iraq.

The synchronized escalations highlight the widening regional fallout from the ongoing military engagements involving the US, Israel, and Iran.

UAE’s Fujairah Port Targeted

In the UAE, a massive fire broke out at the strategic Fujairah Port. According to the Fujairah Media Office, the blaze was ignited after debris from an intercepted hostile drone rained down on the oil facility.

The attack on Fujairah comes immediately after explicit threats from Iran’s military. Following a devastating US missile strike on Friday that crippled Iran’s primary oil export hub on Kharg Island, Tehran issued a stark warning that it would retaliate against ports and docks in the UAE.

A spokesperson for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Ebrahim Zolfaghari, warned Emirati civilians to stay away from maritime facilities. He claimed that the US military actively conceals missile launch systems in UAE ports and stated that Iran views it as a “legitimate right to strike the origins of American missile launches.”

US Embassy in Baghdad Hit

Simultaneously, a major security breach occurred in Iraq’s capital. Security officials confirmed that two drones successfully bypassed defense systems and struck the United States Embassy compound in Baghdad’s highly fortified Green Zone.

Footage from the scene showed thick plumes of smoke and flames rising from a building within the embassy’s vicinity. While the exact extent of the structural damage and potential casualties remain unknown, the strike represents a significant escalation against American diplomatic personnel in the region.

Global Ripple Effects and Regional Chaos

The intensifying warfare is already sending shockwaves through the global economy. Fuel prices are surging dramatically; in the US, gasoline prices have spiked by 23 percent to an average of $3.68 per gallon since the Iran conflict escalated, while diesel prices have skyrocketed by nearly a dollar.

The multi-front war is causing widespread chaos across the Middle East. President Donald Trump recently acknowledged that five American tanker planes were struck at an airport in Saudi Arabia days ago, though he claimed the damage was minimal. Meanwhile, in southern Israel, an Iranian missile barrage injured two people in Eilat, and in Lebanon, continuous Israeli airstrikes are severely disrupting Muslim families attempting to observe the holy month of Ramadan.
