Anurag Thakur Slams Bengal Government Over Malda Incident, Calls Out ‘Appeasement Politics’
Bagdogra, April 4, 2026 — Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anurag Thakur launched a scathing, multi-pronged attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government upon arriving at the Bagdogra Airport on Saturday. Speaking extensively on the upcoming state elections and recent law-and-order controversies, Thakur accused the state administration of fostering a culture of fear, corruption, and systemic appeasement.
Re-defining TMC and Calling Out Corruption
Addressing reporters at the airport, Thakur did not mince words when criticizing the state’s leadership, going so far as to re-define the ruling party’s acronym.
“TMC means Terror, Murder, and Crime,” Thakur stated. “Appeasement, mafia giri, and cut-money have become their name and identity.”
He further alleged that the fundamental systems of the state have been compromised, claiming, “Corruption, nepotism, and infiltrators are being protected and encouraged.”
The Malda Hostage Crisis
A central focal point of Thakur’s address was the recent and shocking incident in Malda, where seven judicial officers were held hostage by a mob for several hours. The BJP leader used the crisis to highlight what he described as a complete breakdown of security in West Bengal.
“Today, even judicial officers do not feel safe in West Bengal. What happened in Malda is not a normal incident,” Thakur emphasized. Pointing to the severity of the situation, he added, “If this is the situation for them, imagine how a common citizen is surviving in Bengal and in what fear they are living.”
“Women Are Unsafe” and Allegations of ‘Jihad’
Thakur heavily criticized the state’s track record on protecting its citizens, particularly women and the younger generation. “Women are unsafe. There are incidents of rape and injustice against women, and Bengal’s youth are being left behind,” he said. “The entire country is witnessing this.”
The political leader also leveled serious accusations regarding demographic and social tensions, alleging that state protection was being selectively granted. “One particular community is focusing on two things: ‘Love Jihad’ and ‘Land Jihad.’ Why is this happening? And why are they being protected?” Thakur questioned during his address.
Predicting a Political Shift
As West Bengal gears up for highly anticipated electoral battles, Thakur expressed total confidence that the state’s voters are ready for a massive leadership change. Pointing to the collective frustrations over safety, corruption, and the Malda incident, the BJP leader issued a direct warning to the current Chief Minister.
“The month of May is approaching,” Thakur declared to the press. “And Mamata Banerjee’s farewell is near.”
