Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ Leaked on Telegram for Just ₹50

Mumbai, April 8, 2026 — In a major blow to the makers of the highly anticipated Bollywood film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the movie has fallen victim to online piracy. The Maharashtra Cyber Police have officially stepped in, registering a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified individuals for leaking and illegally distributing the Aditya Dhar film on social media platforms.

The ₹50 Telegram Racket

The piracy ring was primarily operating through the popular messaging app, Telegram. According to the details shared by the news agency IANS, a dedicated Telegram group was actively circulating high-quality, pirated copies of the film to its members.

In a shocking revelation, cyber police discovered that the perpetrators were charging users a meager sum of up to ₹50 to grant them access to the illicit download links. This micro-transaction model allowed the pirated copy to spread rapidly among hundreds of users before the authorities were alerted.

Police Action and Investigation

Taking swift cognizance of the massive leak, the Maharashtra Cyber Police have registered an FIR under Section 51 of the Copyright Act.

“Maharashtra Cyber Police have filed an FIR against unknown persons for leaking the Bollywood film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ on social media. The complaint was registered under Section 51 of the Copyright Act,” IANS shared in a recent update.

Authorities have confirmed that a rigorous investigation is currently underway to track down the digital footprints of the group admins and those responsible for initially ripping and uploading the film. The police are coordinating with cyber experts to shut down the illicit groups and trace the financial transactions linked to the ₹50 access fees.

The Piracy Menace

Films backed by major directors like Aditya Dhar involve massive budgets and years of hard work, making them prime targets for online piracy syndicates. The leak of Dhurandhar: The Revenge highlights the ongoing vulnerability of the entertainment industry to platforms like Telegram, which are frequently exploited by pirates due to their end-to-end encryption and large file-sharing capabilities.

The makers of the film have yet to release an official statement, but the swift police intervention indicates a zero-tolerance approach toward protecting their cinematic property.
