Released on Bail 15 Days Ago, Nalanda Man Beats Wife to Death; Fakes Staircase Fall
Nalanda (Bihar), April 19, 2026 — In a gruesome incident that has shocked the local community, a 30-year-old woman was brutally beaten to death by her husband in the Noorsarai police station area of Nalanda district. In a desperate bid to cover up the cold-blooded murder, the accused attempted to pass the death off as an accidental fall from the stairs.
The accused, identified as Manish Kumar (alias Surajbhan), is a resident of Parasi village. Shockingly, police records reveal that Kumar is a habitual offender who had just been released from jail 15 days ago after securing bail in a case involving the molestation of a minor.
A Fabricated Accident Unravels
The victim has been identified as Rakhi Kumari. According to local reports, on late Saturday night, neighbors heard violent commotion from the couple’s house. Kumar brutally thrashed his wife, leaving her with severe injuries across her entire body.
To evade suspicion from his family and neighborhood, Kumar quickly spread a rumor that his wife had accidentally tumbled down a flight of stairs.
Neighbors immediately alerted Rakhi’s family about her critical condition. The panicked family members rushed her to the nearby Sadar Hospital for emergency treatment. However, owing to the severity of the internal injuries and trauma, she succumbed to her wounds and was declared dead on arrival.
A History of Abuse and Extortion
Rakhi’s father, Upendra Singh, a resident of Kariyanna village under the Silao police station, has leveled serious allegations against his son-in-law.
Singh stated that he married his daughter to Kumar in the year 2020, and the couple has two young children—a four-and-a-half-year-old daughter and a two-and-a-half-year-old son. According to Singh, Kumar routinely harassed Rakhi, constantly demanding money from her parents. Whenever his financial demands were not met, he subjected her to immense physical and mental torture.
The situation was further complicated by Kumar’s criminal tendencies. He had recently spent seven months behind bars for molesting a minor girl and had only returned home a fortnight before committing the murder.
Police Launch Manhunt
Upon receiving the information, a police team arrived at the hospital and took custody of the body.
Noorsarai Station House Officer (SHO) Arvind Kumar confirmed the nature of the crime. “The woman was mercilessly beaten to death. The body bears multiple injury marks. We have conducted the post-mortem and handed the remains over to her family,” the SHO stated.
An FIR has been registered based on the statement of the victim’s father. The accused husband, Manish Kumar, fled the village immediately after the incident. The police have launched a massive manhunt and are conducting continuous raids to secure his arrest.
