Nalasopara Horror: Headless Body Found in Plastic Bag, Cops Solve Murder in Just 9 Hours

Mumbai, March 31, 2026 — In a chilling display of greed turning into gruesome violence, the discovery of a headless body in a plastic bag sent shockwaves through Nalasopara on Monday. However, in a major breakthrough, the Pelhar police and the local crime branch cracked the horrific murder case within a record 9 hours, arresting the victim’s newly minted business partner and a hired accomplice.

A Partnership Turned Fatal

The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Ashok Singh Rajput, a native of Rajasthan. According to police records, Rajput had recently entered into a business venture with the primary accused, 27-year-old Dinesh Prajapati.

Just a month ago, the duo pooled their funds to open a local general store. However, the brief partnership quickly soured. Sachin Kamble, the senior police inspector of the Pelhar police station, revealed that the two men engaged in frequent, heated disputes over the store’s profit-sharing, a conflict that ultimately escalated to cold-blooded murder.

The Brutal Beheading

The details of the crime are downright terrifying. Investigators stated that Rajput’s body bore several severe stab wounds. Following the fatal attack, Prajapati and his 35-year-old accomplice, Sandip Tiwari, brutally beheaded Rajput to conceal his identity.

In a desperate bid to destroy evidence, the killers stuffed the torso into a plastic bag and dumped it locally. They then traveled to Virar and flung Rajput’s severed head and his mobile phone into the depths of the Tansa river near Khaniwade.

The 9-Hour Manhunt

The killers’ attempt at a perfect crime unraveled rapidly on March 30 when locals spotted the suspicious plastic bag and immediately alerted the authorities. The Pelhar police sprang into action, deploying a specialized dog squad that quickly picked up a scent leading to a nearby locality, providing the vital first clue.

From there, it was a race against time. The investigative team meticulously scanned footage from approximately 300 CCTV cameras in and around the area. Combining the visual evidence with advanced technical tracking, the police successfully zeroed in on Prajapati and Tiwari, placing them under arrest before they could flee.

Both accused men have now been remanded to police custody for 10 days as the investigation continues. Authorities are currently coordinating search operations in the Tansa river to recover the victim’s severed head and mobile phone, pieces of evidence crucial for building an airtight case against the ruthless killers.
