Goa Club Death: MLA Demands Drug Probe After 21-Year-Old Indore Tourist Dies at Anjuna Hospital

Panaji, April 5, 2026 — A holiday trip to Goa ended in tragedy for a group of friends from Madhya Pradesh after a 21-year-old tourist died under mysterious circumstances following a night out at a popular club in Vagator.

The deceased, identified as Ishan Singh Badgujar from Indore, had arrived in the coastal state on Thursday along with a group of eight friends.

Midnight Panic at Vagator Club

According to Anjuna Police Inspector (PI) Suraj Gawas, the group of friends visited a club in the Vagator area on Friday evening. At around midnight, Badgujar suddenly started feeling deeply uneasy and collapsed. His panicked friends immediately rushed him to a private hospital situated in Anjuna for emergency medical attention.

However, as his health condition continued to rapidly deteriorate, doctors at the private facility advised the group to urgently shift the 21-year-old to the larger North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa.

Tragically, he did not survive the transit. “By the time they reached the district hospital, Badgujar had lost his life. Doctors at the district hospital declared him brought dead,” PI Gawas stated.

The Anjuna police have officially registered an unnatural death case and are actively investigating the exact sequence of events.

Cause of Death Disputed

Following the incident, a postmortem was conducted on the deceased’s body at the Goa Medical College (GMC). While doctors verbally informed the police and the victim’s family that a “heart attack” was the suspected cause, they have not yet provided the official cause of death in writing.

The lack of a written medical report has fueled massive speculation, prompting political leaders to demand a thorough probe.

MLA Demands Drug Investigation

Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo reacted sharply to the incident earlier today, revealing she had personally instructed the Anjuna PI to conduct a deep investigation into the root cause of the sudden death.

“If the death is due to a drug overdose, then police should find out the source. Police should find out from where they purchased the drugs,” Lobo told reporters. “Somebody coming to Goa and dying due to a drug overdose brings a bad name to Goa.”

The MLA also heavily criticized the current nightlife regulations in the state, pointing out a major loophole. “Goa does not have any club policy. People take permission to run restaurants and illegally turn them into clubs,” she added, urging the state government to urgently draft and implement a strict, dedicated club policy to prevent such tragedies in the future.
