Ministry of Steel to Organize ‘Bharat Steel 2026’ Global Summit at Bharat Mandapam
New Delhi, March 2, 2026 — India is set to host the ‘Bharat Steel 2026’ summit in New Delhi from April 16 to 17. The two-day international conference and exhibition, organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Steel, will take place at the Bharat Mandapam.
The summit is designed to bring together global leaders, policymakers, technology providers, and investors from the steel, mining, and trading sectors to deliberate on the future of the steel ecosystem and facilitate policy-business dialogue.
Focus on Sustainable Growth and Global Leadership
Addressing an interactive session with foreign ambassadors in New Delhi, External Affairs Ministry Secretary Sudhakar Dalela outlined the summit’s primary objectives. He stated that the event is aimed at promoting sustainable industrial growth within the country. Dalela emphasized that as a global platform, Bharat Steel 2026 will actively support India in showcasing its growing strength and capabilities in the steel sector to the world.
The overarching theme of the summit focuses on building a “Clean, Global, and Resilient” steel ecosystem. Key agenda items for the two-day event include:
Green Steel and Decarbonization: Accelerating the transition to low-emission steel production, utilizing alternative fuels like green hydrogen, and advancing resource efficiency.
Technological Innovation: The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, and digitalization to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
Supply Chain Resilience: Strengthening raw material security, improving logistics, enhancing steel scrap recycling infrastructure, and fostering domestic value addition to reduce import reliance.
Aligning with National Production Targets
The summit directly aligns with the government’s ambitious national expansion targets for the heavy industries sector. Currently the world’s second-largest crude steel producer, India aims to scale its domestic production capacity to 300 million tonnes (MT) by 2030 and 500 MT by 2047. This expansion is targeted to support the escalating demands of domestic infrastructure, railways, defense, and urban development.
Over 700 delegates are expected to attend the event, which will feature specialized CEO roundtables, state-specific policy discussions, and extensive exhibitions showcasing advanced indigenous and global steelmaking technologies.
