New Delhi, February 9, 2026 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi today unveiled a Special Economic Package worth $175 million for Seychelles, aimed at supporting critical sectors including social housing, e-mobility, vocational training, health, defence, and maritime security.
The announcement came during a joint press meet following bilateral talks with Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie at Hyderabad House. This initiative underscores India’s commitment to strengthening ties with its maritime neighbor amid the golden jubilee of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
PM Modi emphasized the package’s role in fostering sustainable development and security cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region. “This support will aid Seychelles in key areas like social housing, e-mobility, vocational training, health, defence, and maritime security,” he stated.
The visit, Herminie’s first to India since assuming office in October 2025, has already seen productive engagements in Chennai and Mumbai, focusing on governance, industry, and health. The economic aid aligns with India’s Vision MAHASAGAR and its broader outreach to the Global South, promoting mutual growth and stability.
