Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), April 24, 2026 — A devastating tragedy unfolded at the Kanpur court premises on Thursday when a 23-year-old practicing lawyer died by suicide, jumping from the fifth floor of the building. The young man, identified as Priyanshu, left behind a harrowing two-page suicide note that has sent shockwaves through the community, detailing a lifetime of severe emotional and physical abuse allegedly inflicted by his own father.
Working alongside his father in the very same court where his life ended, Priyanshu’s letter exposed the hidden torment he faced on a daily basis. He detailed a relentless cycle of repeated humiliation, writing that his father regularly hurled vile insults at him. The young lawyer stated that he was constantly demeaned with terms like “impotent,” “hermaphrodite,” “crippled,” and “disabled,” and lived under the constant threat of being thrown out of his home and losing his job over trivial matters.
The traumatic memories chronicled in the note stretched back to his earliest days of childhood. In one particularly disturbing excerpt, Priyanshu recalled being stripped naked and thrown out of the house at just six years of age merely for taking mango juice from the refrigerator without permission. He acknowledged that while parents must maintain discipline, the suffocating environment, the public humiliation in front of neighbors, and the constant fear of harsh punishment over academic choices had completely drained his will to live.
In the heart-wrenching conclusion of his final letter, the young lawyer issued a desperate appeal to all parents, begging them to only push their children to the point they can endure. Outlining his last wishes, Priyanshu explicitly requested that his father not be permitted to touch his lifeless body. Yet, despite the lifelong trauma he endured, he specifically asked that no legal action be taken against his father to spare the rest of the family from further distress. He signed off with the haunting words, “I lost, Papa won. Congratulations to him.”
The local police have taken official cognizance of the tragic incident, and a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the young lawyer’s death is currently underway.
