Darjeeling MP Raju Bista Inspects Key Infrastructure Projects at Darjeeling More

Raju Bista

Siliguri, February 14, 2026 – Darjeeling Lok Sabha MP Raju Bista visited Darjeeling More today to review the ongoing construction of the Rail Over Bridge (ROB) and the Sevoke-Balason Elevated Highway Corridor Project.

During the inspection, Bista examined the progress of the two-tier elevated structure designed to facilitate seamless traffic flow from Darjeeling, Bagdogra, and Kalimpong/Sikkim directions towards Salugara and Siliguri city.

He noted that traffic congestion at Darjeeling More is expected to ease significantly within the next 45 days with the completion of one tier and its approach road. One section of the stretch is likely to open for public use in the next two months, while the full project is targeted for completion by March 2027.

“Once completed, the transportation dynamics of our region will change significantly, ushering in smoother connectivity and improved traffic management for decades to come,” Bista stated.

The MP expressed heartfelt gratitude to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) team and workers for their diligent efforts in minimizing public inconvenience while maintaining steady progress.

The projects are crucial for reducing bottlenecks in the strategic Siliguri corridor, enhancing connectivity to the Northeast, Sikkim, and neighboring countries.
