Seychelles President Patrick Herminie Arrives in Delhi for High-Level Talks on Golden Jubilee of Diplomatic Ties

New Delhi, February 8, 2026 – Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie arrived in the national capital today after concluding productive engagements in Chennai and Mumbai, as part of his ongoing five-day state visit to India.

The visit, from February 5 to 10, marks Herminie’s first trip to India since assuming office in October 2025 and coincides with the golden jubilee of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the tour underscores Seychelles’ role as a key maritime neighbor and partner in India’s Vision MAHASAGAR and its commitments to the Global South.

Herminie was warmly received at the airport by Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare & for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel and accorded a ceremonial welcome. During his stops in Chennai and Mumbai, he engaged with stakeholders in governance, industry, coastal management, and the health sector.

In New Delhi, the President is scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu and hold bilateral discussions with PM Modi on strengthening ties in areas of mutual interest, including bilateral, regional, and international cooperation. The visit highlights the enduring friendship and shared strategic interests between the Indian Ocean nations.
