Shaping the 2026 Sankalp Patra: Over 200 Stakeholders Join BJP’s High-Level Consultative Meeting in Siliguri
Siliguri, February 24, 2026 — Gearing up for the high-stakes 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a high-level consultative meeting in Siliguri today to gather direct public feedback for its upcoming election manifesto, the ‘Sankalp Patra’.
The crucial session is a key component of the BJP’s broader state-wide ‘people’s manifesto drive’, which aims to replace top-down policymaking with a grassroots approach that reflects the actual aspirations and concerns of the public.
Over 200 Stakeholders Share Their Vision
The meeting witnessed a massive turnout, with over 200 participants from diverse walks of life representing the Darjeeling hills, Terai, and Dooars regions. The gathering included youth groups, NGO representatives, local businessmen, professionals, intellectuals, and sportspersons.
Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, who actively participated in the session, stated that the inputs received will directly shape a forward-looking and actionable manifesto. According to the party, participants provided insightful perspectives on several priority areas, including employment generation, industrial growth, empowerment of MSMEs and startups, strengthening educational institutions, and modernizing infrastructure.
Crucially, the demand for political justice and a “corruption-free, violence-free, and extortion-free West Bengal” emerged as a dominant theme among the attendees.
The high-level meeting was also attended by senior BJP figures, including Shri Swapan Dasgupta, Dr. Anirban Ganguly, Alipurduar MP Manoj Tigga, Siliguri MLA Dr. Shankar Ghosh, Phansidewa MLA Durga Murmu, along with other senior state and district leaders.
Raju Bista Takes to X to Criticize Successive Govts
Following the successful conclusion of the meeting, MP Raju Bista took to his official X handle to share details of the event, where he also launched a scathing attack on the ruling state government.
In his social media post, Bista sharply criticized the historical neglect of the region, writing that even though 78 years have passed since Independence, North Bengal has continuously suffered “step-motherly treatment” meted out by successive Trinamool Congress (TMC), CPM, and Congress governments.
He emphasized on X that the BJP is actively working to dismantle this ingrained culture of discrimination against the region. Vowing to do away with the TMC’s “regressive, corrupt, nepotistic, and violent politics,” Bista’s post affirmed the BJP’s commitment to ushering in a new era of inclusive development and prosperity under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guiding principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”.
