UP Govt Drops Bombshell on Noida Unrest: Most Arrested Rioters Had No Ties to Factories
Noida, April 16, 2026 — The recent wave of violent protests by factory workers in Noida has taken a dramatic turn. In a detailed statement issued on Wednesday, the Uttar Pradesh government revealed that a staggering 45 out of the 66 individuals arrested for the unrest are not actually factory workers.
Authorities are now pointing to a “well-planned conspiracy” driven by “external elements,” alleging that the legitimate labor movement was hijacked to deliberately incite violence, arson, and industrial disruption.
Conspiracy and External Agitators
The massive protests, which began on Monday with workers demanding a wage hike, quickly escalated into severe violence. Mobs torched vehicles—including police SUVs—vandalized public and private property, and pelted stones across various industrial hubs in Noida.
However, according to the state government’s probe findings, the violence was largely orchestrated from the outside. Out of the 17 individuals specifically identified in arson cases, 11 have been arrested so far, and eight of them were found to have zero connection to the factories.
Similarly, out of 32 people identified for actively inciting the mobs, 19 have been apprehended. Additionally, 34 non-workers were arrested for participating in the riots and attempting to vitiate the atmosphere.
The police have also arrested four individuals specifically for allegedly hatching the conspiracy. Investigations are currently underway to uncover their potential links to organized networks and certain political elements who sought to disrupt Noida’s vital economic ecosystem.
Social Media and Outside Participation
The state government’s statement highlighted that the violence was not merely spontaneous labor unrest. Investigators are closely scrutinizing the role of several social media handles that actively spread misinformation to escalate tensions on the ground.
Adding another layer to the conspiracy, authorities noted that several women from different states were found to be actively involved in the protests, allegedly aiding those engaged in the violent activities.
Order Restored
Following the immediate intervention of the administration under the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, order was restored within hours. The government confirmed that following the announcement of a wage hike, genuine laborers and factory owners cooperated to bring the situation back to normal.
“Factories are functioning normally and both workers and industry stakeholders are cooperating,” the official statement read.
Reiterating its “zero tolerance” policy towards attempts to disturb law and order, the UP government assured that strict action will continue against anyone found guilty of orchestrating the violence.
