Kaliabor, Assam February 15, 2026 — A fatal road accident cast a pall of gloom over the Maha Shivaratri celebrations in Assam today, after a head-on collision at Chulung in Kaliabor claimed the life of a man and left his wife fighting for her life.

The incident occurred earlier today when the couple was travelling on a motorcycle. According to initial reports, their two-wheeler collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle at the Chulung area under the Kaliabor sub-division in the Nagaon district. The impact of the crash was severe, resulting in the immediate death of the husband at the scene.

Local residents and police rushed to the spot immediately after the crash. The injured woman was hurriedly transported to a nearby hospital, where her condition is stated to be critical.
