Bihar Crime: Daughter Files FIR After Father Murders Mother in Cold Blood
Khagaria (Bihar), April 22, 2026 — A shocking incident of domestic violence turned fatal in Bihar’s Khagaria district after a man allegedly shot his sleeping wife in the head late at night. The local police, acting swiftly on a complaint filed by the couple’s daughter, arrested the accused husband the very next day.
The horrific murder took place in Ward No. 17 of the Patla area, falling under the jurisdiction of the Maheshkhunt police station, sending ripples of panic and sensation throughout the neighborhood.
Murder in the Dead of Night
According to the details revealed during a press briefing by Gogri Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sakshi Kumari, the incident occurred on the night of April 21.
Around 11:30 PM, the accused, identified as 46-year-old Shivakant Singh, allegedly walked up to his wife, Chunni Devi, while she was deep in sleep and shot her directly in the head. The point-blank gunshot wound was fatal, and Chunni Devi died instantly on the spot.
Following the gruesome murder, the victim’s daughter immediately approached the authorities and submitted a written complaint against her father. Based on her application, the police registered FIR No. 66/26 at the Maheshkhunt Police Station and initiated a rapid manhunt.
Special Team Arrests the Accused
Recognizing the gravity of the cold-blooded crime, Khagaria Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Kumar ordered the immediate formation of a special investigation team.
Led by Gogri SDPO Sakshi Kumari and Maheshkhunt Station House Officer (SHO) Mithilesh Kumar, the armed police squad successfully tracked down and arrested Shivakant Singh within hours of the murder.
“The accused husband has been taken into custody. We are thoroughly investigating the case from all possible angles to ascertain the exact motive behind this extreme step,” stated SDPO Kumari. Further legal proceedings and interrogations are currently underway to uncover the domestic disputes that may have led to the fatal shooting.
