Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh), April 24, 2026 — In a devastating update to the horrific road accident that occurred on Wednesday night in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur district, official police reports confirm that 11 people have tragically lost their lives.
The fatal multi-vehicle pile-up, which resulted in two passenger cars turning into fireballs, took place at approximately 8:30 PM in the Drummondganj police station area.
The Fatal Rear-End Collision
According to the official statement released by the Mirzapur Police, the severe collision occurred near Badka Ghuman Bhaisod Balay Pahad.
The disaster unfolded when a truck violently rammed into three vehicles—an Alto car, a Bolero, and a trailer—from behind. The sheer, crushing force of the rear-end collision caused both the Alto and the Bolero to instantly erupt into flames. The fire spread rapidly, trapping the occupants inside the mangled frames of the two passenger vehicles.
Rescue Operations and Official Response
Upon receiving the distress call, local police teams and the Fire Service immediately rushed to the accident site. With the crucial assistance of local villagers, emergency personnel launched relief and rescue operations, battling the intense blaze in an attempt to save those trapped.
The Mirzapur District Magistrate (DM) and the Superintendent of Police (SP) personally arrived at the scene to inspect the grim crash site and oversee the ongoing operations.
While the authorities have confirmed the tragic death of 11 individuals in the inferno, efforts are currently underway to gather information and formally identify the deceased victims.
The Mirzapur police have confirmed that a team remains present at the location. Despite the massive scale of the accident, traffic on the route has been fully restored and is now running smoothly. Further legal action and investigations into the deadly collision are being initiated as per protocol.
