New Delhi, February 12, 2026 – Darjeeling Lok Sabha MP and BJP National Spokesperson Raju Bista held a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah today to push for faster implementation of development projects in the Darjeeling hills, Terai, and Dooars regions.
In a post on X accompanied by a photograph of the meeting, Bista expressed gratitude to Shah for his continued guidance and support towards addressing long-pending issues in the constituency. The MP highlighted the Centre’s focus on infrastructure, connectivity, tourism, and border-area security, which are critical for the strategic Siliguri corridor and surrounding areas.
This meeting comes a day after Bista’s interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 11, where he thanked the PM for prioritizing regional development and extended an invitation for a visit to Darjeeling. The back-to-back high-level engagements signal strong central attention to the hill and terai region’s aspirations, including improved rail and road links, economic opportunities, and welfare schemes.
Bista has been vocal about bridging developmental gaps in North Bengal, often coordinating with central leadership to expedite projects. Local BJP workers and residents have welcomed the meetings as a positive step towards tangible progress in the area.
No specific new announcements emerged from today’s discussion, but sources indicate continued emphasis on security, tourism promotion, and infrastructure under various central schemes.
