New Delhi/Tiruppur, February 22, 2026 — In a major coordinated operation, the Delhi Police has busted a terror module linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Bangladeshi terrorist organizations, arresting a total of eight suspects.
According to officials, the group was plotting a major terrorist strike in India at the behest of foreign handlers. While six suspects were apprehended in Tamil Nadu, two additional arrests were made in West Bengal. Among the arrested is a Bangladeshi citizen.
The six individuals arrested in Tamil Nadu were detained from garment units in the Tiruppur district, where they were hiding their identities using fake Aadhaar cards. The arrested men have been identified as Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Shabat, Umar, Mohammad Litan, Mohammad Shahid, and Mohammad Ujjal.
Three suspects were arrested from Palladam.
Two suspects were arrested from Uthukuli.
One suspect was arrested from the Thirumuruganpoondi area.
During the Tamil Nadu operation, authorities recovered eight mobile phones and 16 SIM cards. The group had been actively posting content on social media in support of Pakistan-based terrorist organizations. Across the entire operation, police have seized dozens of mobile phones and SIM cards from the suspects.
The module first came under the scanner after provocative “Free Kashmir” posters were put up at a metro station in the national capital. Police sources revealed that a group of four out of the eight suspects had traveled to Delhi during the AI Summit to paste these incriminating posters before fleeing back to Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
Investigators further disclosed that the accused had conducted a recce of several cities as part of their suspected terror activities. All the suspects remained in contact with each other through social media. They are currently being brought to Delhi by train for further interrogation to establish their exact links with Bangladeshi extremist outfits.
The arrests coincide with a high-security alert issued across the national capital. Intelligence inputs had warned of a possible terror threat from the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Security agencies indicated that the terrorists might be plotting an improvised explosive device (IED) attack, with key religious sites near the Red Fort and a temple in the Chandni Chowk area identified as potential targets.
