New Delhi — In a major effort to accommodate the massive surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming festive season, Indian Railways has announced the operation of a record number of Holi Special trains this year. The initiative aims to ensure smooth travel for thousands of commuters heading to their hometowns across the country to celebrate the festival of colors.

According to the Ministry of Railways, several hundred special train trips have been planned to connect major urban hubs with key destinations in states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Odisha. These special services will supplement the existing scheduled trains, significantly increasing seat availability and reducing the long waiting lists typically seen during the Holi period.

To manage the high volume of travelers, the Railways has also enhanced crowd management measures at major stations, including New Delhi, Anand Vihar, Mumbai Central, and Howrah. Additional staff, including RPF personnel and ticket checkers, will be deployed to ensure orderly boarding and the safety of passengers. Furthermore, the ministry has directed zonal railways to maintain high standards of cleanliness and food quality on these special trains to provide a comfortable journey for the public.

Travelers are encouraged to book their tickets well in advance through the IRCTC website or authorized counters. Officials noted that the operation of these record-breaking special services reflects the department’s commitment to providing accessible and efficient transportation during India’s peak festive seasons, ensuring that the spirit of the festival remains unhindered by travel constraints.
