Unlicensed Factory Busted with Paneer Worth Over ₹3 Lakh
Surat, March 6, 2026 — In a decisive move against food adulteration and public health hazards, the Surat Food Safety Team has conducted a major raid on an illicit dairy establishment operating within the city.
The targeted operation resulted in the immediate seizure of a massive 1,401 kg of suspected adulterated paneer. According to official estimates, the total market value of the confiscated dairy stock stands at ₹3,08,220.
During the extensive inspection of the premises, food safety authorities discovered severe violations of mandatory health and commercial guidelines. The Food Business Operator (FBO) managing the facility was found to be manufacturing and preparing dairy products for market distribution entirely without a valid Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) License or Registration.
Operating without an FSSAI license is a direct violation of national food safety protocols and immediately flags the facility as an unregulated and potentially hazardous production site.
To determine the exact nature of the suspected adulteration and to evaluate any potential health risks posed to consumers, official food samples from the seized 1,401 kg batch have been carefully drawn by the inspecting officers.
These samples have been forwarded for rigorous laboratory analysis. The Surat Food Safety Department confirmed that formal legal proceedings have been initiated under the strict provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
Authorities have issued a stern warning that stringent penal action will be taken against the operators once the laboratory results are returned, particularly if the tests confirm the presence of harmful chemical adulterants, synthetic binders, or substandard ingredients.
