MDMA Overdose Suspected as 2 Students Die After Mumbai Music Concert; 6 Sent to Police Custody

Mumbai, April 14, 2026 — A weekend music concert turned into a nightmare in Mumbai’s Goregaon area after two college students died and another was left in critical condition due to a suspected drug overdose.

Taking swift action, the Mumbai Police have arrested six individuals in connection with the incident, including the event organizers and security personnel.

Midnight Chaos at NESCO Center

The tragic incident occurred during a music event hosted on April 11 at the NESCO Center in Goregaon. The concert was heavily attended by college students from across the city.

According to police sources, the victims were students at a prominent MBA college in Mumbai. Around midnight, several attendees suddenly began complaining of severe breathing difficulties and extreme discomfort. They were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for emergency medical intervention.

Tragically, a 24-year-old female student and a 28-year-old male student succumbed to the overdose. A 25-year-old woman remains in critical condition and is currently fighting for her life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

MDMA Suspected, 6 in Custody

Preliminary investigations suggest that several students at the concert consumed narcotics, highly suspected to be MDMA. However, authorities have stated that final confirmation will only be possible once the forensic and autopsy reports are received.

Cracking down on the organizers, the police have arrested a total of six people so far. The arrested individuals include event organizers Vihan (also known as Akash Samal) and Sunny Vinod Jain, along with security staff member Balakrishnan Balaram.

Following their arrest, all the accused were produced before a local court, which remanded them to three-day police custody.

Probe into the Drug Network

The police have now expanded the scope of their investigation to unearth the wider drug supply network that facilitated the availability of narcotics at the venue. Authorities are actively recording statements from other students who attended the event to trace the peddlers.

Meanwhile, a video from the late-night party has gone viral on social media, which investigators are scanning closely to identify additional suspects and gather further evidence of drug consumption at the venue.
