President Droupadi Murmu Confers Honorary Doctorate on NSA Ajit Doval at Rashtriya Raksha University

Gandhinagar, April 14, 2026 — National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval was conferred an honorary doctorate by President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday during the fifth convocation ceremony of the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) in Gujarat.

Addressing the graduating students and security professionals, Doval delivered a powerful message, emphasizing that national security extends far beyond military strength and technological prowess.

A Collective National Responsibility

During his convocation address, the NSA stressed that securing the nation is an overarching, collective duty that falls on every citizen.

“National security is not only the responsibility of the army or police, but a collective responsibility of the entire nation,” Doval stated, noting that public awareness and the overall morale of the nation play a decisive role in determining outcomes in the security domain.

He advised professionals entering the security sector to combine strong ethical character with up-to-date knowledge systems to effectively counter rapidly evolving modern threats, particularly those fueled by technological transformations.

Highlighting the unforgiving nature of the profession, Doval remarked, “There is no concept of a silver medal in security; there is either victory or defeat. If you win, the nation is safe; if you lose, the existence itself is at risk.” He urged the youth to remain deeply committed to national service with utmost discipline and dedication.

Strengthening India’s Security Ecosystem

The ceremony was attended by several prominent dignitaries, including Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Governor Acharya Devvrat, who echoed the NSA’s sentiments on national duty.

Chief Minister Patel praised RRU for emerging as a vital institution in bolstering India’s security infrastructure. “Rashtriya Raksha University is contributing significantly to India’s security ecosystem by preparing trained professionals equipped with modern knowledge, technological understanding, and specialised skills required in today’s security environment,” he said. The Chief Minister also highlighted the encouraging rise in women’s participation in technical and security disciplines as a positive step toward an inclusive India.

Governor Acharya Devvrat called upon the youth to join the mission of national security with a spirit of patriotism and sacrifice. In his address, he also pointed to the abrogation of Article 370 as a historic demonstration of political will that has significantly strengthened internal security and integration, urging students to draw inspiration from such decisive actions.
