Bhiwadi Police Crack 3-Year-Old Case: Mastermind of ₹45 Lakh Scrap Fraud Arrested from Noida

Noida Hideout Busted: Mastermind Behind Bhiwadi Scrap Fraud Finally Arrested

Bhiwadi, April 7, 2026 — After a rigorous three-year manhunt, the Bhiwadi police have successfully arrested the mastermind behind a massive ₹45 lakh scrap fraud. The main accused, identified as Praveen Sharma, had been on the run since 2023 and was finally nabbed from his hideout in Noida.

The 2023 Scrap Supply Scam

The case dates back to 2023 when a local businessman, Vipin Agarwal, filed a formal complaint detailing a highly orchestrated cheating scheme. According to the victim, the accused individuals lured him in with the promise of supplying commercial scrap at heavily discounted rates.

Trusting the deal, Agarwal transferred a total of ₹45 lakh to the fraudsters through a combination of direct bank transfers and cash payments. However, once the massive sum was handed over, the accused immediately broke all contact and completely failed to deliver the promised scrap materials.

The Investigation and Arrests

Following the registration of the FIR, the Bhiwadi police launched an active investigation into the financial fraud. While they had previously managed to arrest one of the co-accused, identified as Deepak Sharma, the primary mastermind, Praveen Sharma, had managed to evade law enforcement by frequently changing his locations.

Acting on concrete intelligence regarding his whereabouts, a special police team recently raided his location in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, successfully taking him into custody.

The police have confirmed that Praveen Sharma is currently undergoing intense interrogation to recover the defrauded money and to determine if he has been involved in similar scams in other regions while on the run.
