Jalpaiguri Police Hand Over Cheques to 5 Cyber Fraud Victims
Siliguri, April 3, 2026 — In a massive win for the common man, the Jalpaiguri District Police have successfully brought relief to dozens of citizens who fell victim to theft and digital scams. In a special handover event held on Thursday, April 2, officials at the Rajganj Police Station returned 22 recovered smartphones to their rightful owners and distributed recovered funds to multiple victims of cyber fraud.
22 Missing Smartphones Traced and Returned
Losing a smartphone often feels like a permanent loss, but the Rajganj police have proven otherwise. Following a series of missing mobile complaints registered throughout March 2026, the local police launched a sustained technical investigation to track down the vanished devices.
Through relentless digital tracking and ground-level intelligence, the investigating teams successfully intercepted and recovered 22 missing mobile phones within just a few weeks. The devices were officially handed back to their ecstatic owners at the police station, turning a stressful ordeal into a moment of immense relief.
Striking Back at Cyber Fraudsters
Beyond recovering stolen hardware, the Jalpaiguri Police also struck a heavy blow against the rising tide of online financial crimes. The department’s dedicated efforts resulted in the successful retrieval of funds that had been siphoned off by digital scammers over the past month.
Authorities managed to trace the illicit money trails and successfully freeze and recover a total amount of ₹47,521/- across several different cyber fraud cases reported in March.
Token Cheques Handed to Victims
During Thursday’s event, police officials proudly handed over Token Cheques to five separate victims of these cyber frauds, ensuring their hard-earned money was safely returned to their bank accounts.
Taking to social media to announce the successful recoveries, the Jalpaiguri Police emphasized their ongoing commitment to protecting citizens’ property and digital assets. Authorities have once again urged the public to immediately report any lost devices or suspicious online financial transactions to the police to ensure swift action and a higher chance of recovery.
