Jalpaiguri, West Bengal – In a swift operation against vehicle theft, the Kranti OP police team under Malbazar Police Station raided a residence in Jharmajgram, Kranti, on January 13, 2026, recovering one stolen car and three motorcycles, and arresting one individual.

Acting on specific intelligence, the team, led by Sub-Inspector Sangay Sherpa, conducted the search at the suspect’s home. During the raid, authorities discovered a stolen four-wheeler KUV car, reportedly hidden for clandestine disposal. A further inspection uncovered three additional motorcycles: an Apache, a Glamour, and a Yamaha.

The accused failed to provide any satisfactory explanation for possessing the vehicles, leading to his immediate arrest. All recovered items were seized in accordance with legal procedures, and a suo motu case has been registered against him and potential accomplices under relevant sections of the law.

Jalpaiguri District Police shared details of the operation on social media, reiterating their commitment to stringent action against crime and ensuring public safety. This raid highlights ongoing efforts to curb vehicle theft rings in rural areas of North Bengal, where such incidents have been a growing concern.

Local residents have expressed relief over the recovery, hoping it will deter similar criminal activities. Investigations are continuing to trace the origins of the stolen vehicles and identify any broader network involved.
