“Everyone Knows the Truth”: Priyanka Gandhi Counters PM Modi’s Kerala Remarks, Demands West Asia Debate

New Delhi, March 30, 2026 — As the high-stakes Kerala Assembly elections draw closer, a fierce war of words has erupted between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a sharp counter-offensive on Monday, refuting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks regarding the political dynamics between the Left and the Congress in the southern state.

Simultaneously, the Congress leader escalated her demands on the national front, urging the central government to initiate a comprehensive parliamentary debate on the ongoing West Asia conflict and its direct economic impact on Indian citizens.

The Kerala ‘Alliance’ Dispute

The political exchange was triggered by PM Modi’s aggressive campaigning during his recent rallies in Palakkad and Thrissur. The Prime Minister took direct aim at both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF), accusing the rival coalitions of running a syndicate to “loot” Kerala for decades by sharing power in alternating terms.

Highlighting the national political landscape, PM Modi pointed out the apparent contradiction in the opposition’s strategy. “They are together in the INDI alliance; even in Tamil Nadu, they are in alliance. But here in Kerala, the Congress and the Left parties are abusing each other,” the Prime Minister stated, adding that both factions are now simply fighting over who is the BJP’s “B-team.”

Responding swiftly to the Prime Minister’s allegations, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra dismissed the narrative. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, she asserted that the voters are fully aware of the ground reality. “Entire Kerala knows the alliance is between whom. No matter what the PM says, everyone knows the truth,” she stated.

Demanding Answers on the West Asia Crisis

Moving beyond state politics, the Congress MP raised serious concerns regarding the escalating situation in West Asia and its ripple effects on the Indian economy. She formally demanded that the Centre open the floor for a debate in Parliament to outline its strategy for dealing with the fallout.

“We are demanding a debate on the West Asia conflict because the entire country is in trouble. Prices of gas cylinders have increased, and the challenges are rising,” she told reporters.

Emphasizing the need for bipartisan solutions rather than political rhetoric, she added, “It is not right to do politics on a topic like war, but we do want solutions to the increasing challenges. That is why we are seeking a debate. The government should clearly state its preparedness so that we can work together on future strategies.”

The Road to the Elections

This sharp exchange sets the stage for a highly polarized electoral contest in Kerala. With polling scheduled for a single phase on April 9, 2026, and the counting of votes set for May 4, all major political formations—the LDF, the UDF, and the BJP-led NDA—are aggressively intensifying their campaigns to sway the state’s electorate.
