Major Terror Plot Foiled: Punjab Police Arrest 3 Operatives of Pakistan-Backed ISI Module
Amritsar, April 6, 2026 — The Punjab Police have successfully averted a major terror plot by busting a Pakistan ISI-backed module that was allegedly planning synchronized grenade attacks on police establishments across Punjab and other states. Three key operatives have been arrested in connection with the conspiracy.
Recoveries and Pakistan Link
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed the breakthrough operation on Monday, revealing that law enforcement officers recovered two hand grenades and a Glock pistol from the suspects. Notably, the seized hand grenades bore the distinct markings of the Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF), clearly indicating cross-border linkages and the direct involvement of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Ammishah village in Tarn Taran
Amandeep Singh, a resident of Indra Colony in Amritsar
Bikramjit Singh, a resident of Nangal Pannuwan village in Amritsar
Joint Operation with Gujarat ATS
Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) Amritsar, Sukhminder Singh Mann, shared the operational details that led to the bust. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, SSOC teams initially apprehended Sarabjit Singh and Amandeep Singh, recovering the weapons and explosives from their possession.
During subsequent interrogations, the police discovered that the third suspect, Bikramjit Singh, was operating remotely from Deesa in Gujarat. Bikramjit served as the group’s key operative and the primary contact for Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIOs). The Punjab Police immediately shared this crucial intelligence with the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), which culminated in Bikramjit’s swift arrest with their active cooperation.
Social Media Handlers and Planned Attacks
Preliminary investigations suggest that the dismantled module was engaged in the systematic targeting of police outposts. The three operatives were in constant touch with their Pakistan-based ISI handlers through various social media platforms. According to the police probe, the group was acting on direct instructions from these handlers to execute grenade strikes on multiple security installations to create unrest.
An FIR has been formally registered under the Explosive Substances (Amendment) Act, the Arms Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the SSOC Police Station in Amritsar. Authorities have stated that active efforts are currently ongoing to identify, track, and apprehend other potential members of this terror module.
