Narayan Sai Divorce Finalized: Jailed Son of Asaram Ordered to Pay ₹2 Crore in Permanent Maintenance
Indore, April 7, 2026 — In a massive legal development, the Indore Family Court has officially accepted the divorce petition filed by the wife of Narayan Sai, the son of the self-styled and convicted godman, Asaram Bapu. In addition to granting the divorce, the court has ordered Sai to pay a staggering ₹2 crore as permanent alimony to his now ex-wife.
Narayan Sai is currently lodged in the Surat Jail in Gujarat, serving a sentence following his conviction in a high-profile rape case.
The ₹2 Crore Alimony Order
The details of the verdict were confirmed by Anuragchandra Goyal, the legal counsel representing Sai’s Indore-based wife, Janki Harpalani.
According to Goyal, the Family Court passed the order on April 2, legally dissolving the marriage. The judge directed Narayan Sai to pay the lump-sum permanent maintenance amount of ₹2 crore to Janki within the next three months.
A Long Legal Battle
The couple got married in the year 2008 and do not have any children. The legal battle for separation began back in 2018 when Janki filed for divorce in the local family court. In her petition, she accused her husband of inflicting severe mental cruelty and demanded a one-time settlement of ₹5 crore for her permanent maintenance.
While Narayan Sai had vehemently denied these allegations during the court proceedings, Goyal stated that his client submitted “solid documentary evidence” to back up her claims of cruelty and mistreatment.
Unpaid Maintenance
Interestingly, this is not the first financial directive the court has issued against Sai in this case. In 2018, during the ongoing divorce proceedings, the Family Court had ordered Narayan Sai to pay an interim monthly maintenance of ₹50,000 to his wife.
However, Janki’s lawyer revealed that despite the clear mandate, Narayan Sai has not paid a single rupee towards this monthly maintenance over the past eight years.
Following the presentation of arguments from both sides and the submission of concrete evidence, the court finally ruled in favor of Janki, granting her the divorce and securing the ₹2 crore financial settlement.
