Woman Found Hanging in PG Weeks After Moving Out Over Domestic Dispute
Kurukshetra (Haryana), April 22, 2026 — In a tragic and deeply disturbing turn of events, a young woman was found dead, hanging from a ceiling fan in her paying guest (PG) accommodation in Kurukshetra. The suspected suicide occurred just days after her estranged husband took his own life in his native village.
The incident was discovered late Monday night, around 9:00 PM, when residents of the PG facility grew suspicious and peered through her room’s window, only to find her body suspended from the ceiling.
A Tragic Timeline of Events
According to City Police Station In-charge Surinder Sandhu, preliminary investigations reveal a heartbreaking timeline. The deceased, originally hailing from Jind, had a love marriage with a resident of Karnal three years ago.
The couple had been living together in a rented accommodation. However, they had been facing severe domestic disputes for some time. Unable to resolve their differences, the woman moved out nearly a month ago and relocated to Kurukshetra, living independently in the PG facility. Upon moving in, she informed her fellow PG residents that she was actively looking for a job to support herself.
The Husband’s Prior Suicide
The domestic dispute took a fatal turn last week when the woman’s husband allegedly died by suicide in his native village in Karnal. Police suspect that the news of her husband’s tragic death, coupled with the ongoing emotional trauma of their separation, may have pushed the woman to take this extreme step.
Following the discovery of her body on Monday night, local police rushed to the scene, secured the room, and lowered the body.
“The woman’s body has been officially handed over to her parents following a thorough postmortem examination,” the police stated.
A formal investigation is currently underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events, and authorities are questioning family members from both sides to understand the specific nature of the domestic disputes that drove the young couple to suicide within days of each other.
