No Food Shortage: Govt Assures Sufficient Grain Stocks Amid West Asia Conflict
New Delhi, April 6, 2026 — As global markets react to the escalating tensions in the Middle East, the Central Government has stepped in to allay fears regarding domestic food security. The government officially assured citizens today that there is a sufficient stock of food grains currently available within the country, despite the ongoing West Asian conflict.
The reassurance was issued during a key Inter-Ministerial Briefing on Recent Developments in West Asia, held in New Delhi.
Addressing the briefing, Anupam Mishra, the Additional Secretary for the Department of Consumer Affairs, provided a comprehensive update on the nation’s essential supplies. He stated that the government is closely monitoring the situation and confirmed that there is currently no unusual volatility being observed in the prices of essential commodities.
With the conflict heavily impacting global supply chains and international markets, the government’s timely update aims to prevent panic buying and reassure the public that India’s domestic food grain reserves remain robust and well-equipped to handle the geopolitical shockwaves.
